Master of Science in Real Estate Development + Master of Business Administration

MSRED + MBA

Real Estate Development students stand near and talk about their studio model.

The School of Architecture and Planning and the  School of Management at the University at Buffalo offer a collaborative program leading to both a Master of Science in Real Estate Development  and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

If you aspire to have a career in real estate development or investment, or if you want to advance in your career in this field, UB's MSRED + MBA track will give you a comparative advantage, and will significantly broaden your career options.

Real estate development and investment is one of the largest and most dynamic business sectors, both in the U.S. and globally.  Comprised of large, publicly-traded companies and small entrepreneurs, real estate professionals build and invest in residential, office, retail, hospitality, and industrial properties in almost every town and city.  But each place, and each investment is different, so these professionals face diverse challenges, calling for diverse skills and expertise.

The MSRED provides you with a comprehensive understanding of the interdisciplinary perspectives that developers, investors, lenders, managers, and corporate users need to have in order to be successful in the built environment.  You will get a solid foundation in principles relating to architecture, construction, development, finance, investment, real estate law and transactions, property and facilities management, and urban and regional planning.

An MBA will equip you with strong skills in finance, as well as in accounting, marketing, operations management, organizational leadership, and strategy.

Together, these degrees will give you a mastery over broad-based business fundamentals, and specialized expertise for today's competitive commercial real estate industry.

At UB, you can complete these degrees at an accelerated pace. You will need to apply and be accepted by both the MBA and the MSRED programs. You can apply before starting graduate school, or you can apply during your first year in either program.
