We accept and review applications on a continual basis throughout the year. For full scholarship consideration, apply by December 31 (Fall admissions).

1 Deadlines

  • The MS in Real Estate Development program enrolls in the fall semester and accepts completed applications for graduate admission on a rolling basis. Applications received by May 1 will receive primary consideration for scholarships and admissions. Applications received thereafter are reviewed on a rolling basis, provided space remains in the incoming class.​

Completed applications are usually reviewed within one week of submission, and usually receive the admissions decision within two weeks.  Some scholarship reviews take longer.

2 Please upload the following documents (do not send hardcopies!) into your online application:

  • Transcript(s) from every institution you have previously attended. 
  • Two letters of recommendation (minimum): Please identify in your application the names of persons who will be writing recommendations. You are strongly encouraged to arrange for at least one from a person who knows your academic work. The individuals will receive an automated email message requesting a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
  • Resume that outlines your work and educational background and experiences.
  • Personal statement, 500 words or less, sharing why you want to study real estate development, and why you wish to do so at the University at Buffalo. Please be specific about influential courses, instructors, books, personal or professional experiences, and goals.
  • GRE scores are not required for Master of Science in Real Estate Development.
  • Work sample or portfolio of creative work (50 MB upload limit)– Applicants for the MSRED usually need not submit a portfolio or work sample, though they may voluntarily submit up to one document if they wish.  Please note: In response to specific characteristics of an application, the Admissions Committee at its discretion  may request an example of academic or professional writing

For those applicants wish to submit a GRE score the department encourages them to do so, and the score will be reviewed alongside other application materials.
