Dean Robert Shibley

Buffalo in Chicago

Join the School of Architecture and Planning in Chicago on June 27, 2014, at the AIA National Convention as we celebrate Dean Robert Shibley’s acceptance of the 2014 Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture. The prestigious lifetime achievement award recognizes Shibley’s service to public architecture and urban design through more than 40 years of critical practice, scholarship and teaching.

Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, connect with fellow alumni and friends and hear Dean Shibley reflect on the significance of this award for the School of Architecture and Planning, UB and our collective role in design advocacy for public architecture.

"This is really a celebration of Buffalo's resurgence and the role that planning and design play in the remaking of legacy cities and regions," Shibley says of the award. Shibley's award-winning planning and urban design work, generated in collaboration with the university and our community, has spurred new investment in the region and elevated public expectations for design and planning. "This is the result of year-after-year of hard work, setbacks and incremental achievements by citizen activists, planners, our school and university, legislators, philanthropists, developers and business people," Shibley has said.
