Marguerite McAfee is co-founder and Principal of Emerita Advisors, a real estate consulting, training and education platform based in Buffalo, New York.
Marguerite advises investors on the financial feasibility of new and existing real estate investments, strategy, debt and equity financing, and partnership structuring. She is an industry specialist with significant experience in institutional and private equity real estate investment. In addition to providing growing real estate investment companies and individual investors with ad hoc analytical expertise, Marguerite engages as a public speaker and trainer. She teaches graduate-level real estate finance and financial modeling courses in the University at Buffalo’s Master of Science in Real Estate program, and is a member of the University at Buffalo’s Real Estate Development Advisory Committee.
Marguerite holds a Master's degree in real estate finance and investment from New York University, where she was a recipient of a Dean's Fellowship for academic excellence, and a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature from the State University of New York at Oswego. She is a past FINRA licensee having received the designations of General Securities Representative (Series 7) and Uniform Securities Agent (Series 63), and a past New York State licensed real estate salesperson.
Prior to founding Emerita Advisors, Marguerite served as Director of Acquisitions at Hamister Group, LLC where she was responsible for identifying and transacting seniors housing and hotel investments and dispositions. Her past work experience also includes Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Product Development at Prudential Real Estate Investors; Vice President of The Dermot Company, a real estate developer and manager; and as Associate at Keefe, Bruyette and Woods, a financial services investment bank.
