He has been in full-time architectural practice since 1976 working on many of the more significant historic projects in Buffalo. His award-winning work includes authorship of the Downtown Buffalo Strategic Plan (1998) which informed to a large degree the Buffalo:2002 planning effort. His projects include the Frank Lloyd Wright Rowing Boathouse, a conjectural design of the Yahara Boathouse, as well as the Kleinhans Music Hall Master Plan, Erie County Courts Facilities, Barton House renovations, Market Arcade, Roycroft Inn guest house, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Greater Buffalo Savings Bank buildings. He currently serves on a Technical Standards Panel at Underwriters Laboratories.

Paul is President and Technical Director for STC Sound Control, a company that makes unique architectural acoustic products and has been granted four patents. He is author of “Achieving Acoustical Comfort in Restaurants” and presented a Special Session on Restaurant Acoustics at the 174th meeting of the Acoustical Society of America. His current research interests involve the emotional response and subjective impressions created by acoustical conditions in rooms, especially modal resonances.
