Facility hours updates

Dear Students,

I hope that you are well and that the start of your semester has been positive. I would also like to commend you for your respect and diligence in adhering to UB and School health and safety guidelines relative to COVID-19 protocols over the past two weeks. As such, the School is extending student access times to all School facilities – including Hayes, Crosby and Parker Halls, the Hayes B/C annexes, and computing labs – to 8 am – 8 pm on weekdays and 9 am – 5 pm on weekends. These hours are expected to be in place for the next two weeks, when we will again review building hours.

School leadership will be conducting periodic walkthroughs and assessments of our buildings to ensure adherence to the protocols. Non-compliant behavior could result in the reversal of these extended hours or revoking individual access.

For students in studios, please also be advised of the following Studio Access Policies:

All university guidelines, including the wearing of face coverings at all times, are to be followed. In addition:

·       Do not prop open exterior doors.

·       Interior doors (in Crosby) are to remain open, but please do not visit other studio spaces.

·       You are encouraged to open windows, but they need to be closed prior to departure.

  • Secure your belongings when you are not present.
  • Studio desks must remain spatially distant.
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Properly dispose of all trash.

Access to studios, as well as other policies, may change at any time.

We also remind you to visit UB’s COVID-19 dashboard and the School’s COVID-19 information page for the latest guidelines on our response. Please also visit our new Information for Current Students resource page for guidance on accessing student services, from advising to printing and fabrication.

I wish you continued success as we head full swing into the fall semester. Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we adjust and adapt to our current situation.

Sincerely,

Dean Robert Shibley
