Associate Dean William McDonnell has been recognized with the highest award in the State University of New York system for his dedicated professional service to the university.

William McDonnell, associate dean for the School of Architecture and Planning, has been recognized with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

This award recognizes individuals who have repeatedly sought improvement of themselves, their campuses, and ultimately the State University of New York and, in so doing, transcend the normal definitions of excellence.  The awards is made by the Professional Staff Senate Awards Committee based on submitted nominations.

As associate dean, McDonnell serves as chief financial officer and chief of staff for the school, with oversight for research, facilities and planning management. He began his career with UB in 1998 and has been with the School of Architecture and Planning since 2005. McDonnell is a senator on UB's Professional Staff Senate and serves as the SEFA representative for the School of Architecture and Planning. 

He is one of five professional staff members at UB to receive the award for Excellence in Professional Service. The PSS Annual Awards Celebration and Recognition will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Center for Tomorrow, North Campus.
