“Architecture as a Tool for Community Transformation” – Northland Beltline Redevelopment Project: Northland Central and the Workforce Training Center”

This event will discuss how the Northland Beltline Redevelopment Project aims to transform a community affected by the decline of a once thriving manufacturing facility on the east side of Buffalo.  Through a moderated panel discussion, this course will walk through the history, current development, and future plans for the project. It will demonstrate how this manufacturing community fell into decline and what the Buffalo Urban Development Corporation is doing to create a thriving epicenter for the Northland Avenue community. The panel will discuss the Workforce Training Center as the anchor tenant and as a case study for further development in the area. It will explain how architecture can be used as a tool to facilitate transformation and to augment people’s ability to provide for the needs of the community.
