Jen Maigret

Jen Maigret is a registered architect, Associate Professor of architecture at the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, University of Michigan, and founding partner of MAde-studio, a research-based firm focused on the development of environmentally and culturally sound architecture and urban design practices.

Maigret holds degrees in Biology (B.A. Biology, Hartwick College and M.S. Evolutionary Biology and Ecology, University of Michigan) and Architecture (M.Arch, University of Michigan).

MAde-studio’s projects are distributed across the fields of architecture, urbanism and landscape and include playgrounds, urban pocket parks and storm water integration practices. The practice’s work on playgrounds has been recognized for its contributions to regionally scaled speculation as well as its design excellence for small-scale, built work.  A Dozen Playgrounds, a grant-funded examination of the history of Detroit’s elementary school playgrounds and design speculation for its future was awarded with a Michigan American Institute of Architects Honor Award. Playful Horizons, a constructed project for the Garden of Dreams daycare program in Battle Creek, MI, has also been recognized with a Michigan American Institute of Architects Honor Award as well as a Boston Society of Architects Citation.
