Graduate Programs in Architecture



  • For non-architecture undergraduate students applying to the Master of Architecture, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the fall 2014 incoming class is complete.
  • The application for fall 2014 admission to the 2-year Master of Architecture is due January 15, 2014.
  • Applicants who would like an extension of the application deadline should email a request to Debbie Eggebrecht at  
  • Individuals applying to dual degree programs must be accepted in all relevant departments and meet all relevant departmental deadlines.

2 Collect your official credentials needed during application process

  • Transcript(s) from every institution you have previously attended. Current University at Buffalo undergraduate students need not send UB transcripts.
  • Three letters of recommendation: Please identify in your application the names of persons who will be writing recommendations. You are strongly encouraged to arrange for at least one from a person who knows your academic work. The individuals will receive an automated email message requesting a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
  • Resume that outlines your work and educational background and experiences.
  • Personal statement, 500 words or less, of your current position on the discipline of architecture. Please be specific about influential courses, instructors, books, personal or professional experiences, and goals)
  • Official GRE score report
  • Portfolio of work (50 MB upload limit): Students applying to the MArch-3.5 Year program can opt for submitting a design assignment in place of a portfolio. To request the design assignment contact: Debra Eggebrecht (
