Mr. Sternberg is Director of the MS Architecture: Real Estate Development Program. He is a professor of urban and regional planning at UB and also serves as chair of that program. He has particular interests in the roles of real estate development in local economies, and the relationship between public and private development.
He has written three books and several dozen academic journal articles about regional economic development, urban development, urban design, infrastructure planning, disaster planning, and tourism development. His articles most closely related to real estate development appeared in the Economic Development Quarterly, Journal of the American Planning Association, Journal of Urban Design, and Annals of Tourism Research. His co-authored book (with George C. Lee) titled, Bridges: Their Engineering and Planning is to be published by State University of New York Press in early 2015. He holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University.
