Applications received thereafter are reviewed on a rolling basis, provided space remains in the incoming class.
  • For fall admission, the deadline for applications is January 1.

Please upload the following documents (do not send hardcopies!) into your online application:

  • Transcript(s) from every institution you have previously attended.
  • Two letters of recommendation: Please identify in your application the names of persons who will be writing recommendations. You are strongly encouraged to arrange for at least one from a person who knows your academic work. The individuals will receive an automated email message requesting a letter of recommendation on your behalf.
  • Resume that outlines your work and educational background and experiences.
  • Personal statement, 500 words or less, of your current position on the discipline of architecture. Please be specific about influential courses, instructors, books, personal or professional experiences, and goals. In addition, please feel free to provide relevant context related to unique challenges (personal and or academic) you may have encountered during this current environment on how it may affect your application.
  • GRE scores are not required for Master of Science in Architecture applicants.
  • Work samples, or portfolio of creative work (50 MB upload limit) – Applicants for Real Estate Development and for Historic Preservation need not submit a portfolio or work sample, though at its discretion the Admissions Committee may request an example of academic or professional writing.  For all others, the portfolio is meant to demonstrate one’s creative ability. Given the diversity of our applicants, portfolios reflect a wide array of creative expression.   Portfolios may include drawings, models, creative writing, sculpture, journalism, painting, photography, documentation, or other professional works.  Review the Department of Architecture’s Portfolio Requirements.
