Dr. Page’s research focuses on a variety of issues related to environmental planning, which involves the study of how to use the planning process to minimize the negative effects of the natural environment on humans and of human settlements on the natural environment.
At present, his efforts are focused on how cities and metropolitan areas can reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases to help control global warming.

Dr. Page directs the specialization in environmental and physical planning for the MUP program. Professor Page spent academic year 2003-04 as a Fulbright Scholar teaching environmental management and policy at Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City.
In fall 2004, Dr. Page was presented the Jay Chatterjee Award for Career-Long Service to the Planning Academy by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning. Dr. Page is the editor for North American and responsible for editorial decisions for all submissions from North America to the Journal of Environmental Planning & Management. He started and continues to operate PLANET, an international listserv of planning educators and researchers. Dr. Page serves as a Fulbright Senior Specialist Program member for international consulting and serves on site-visit teams for the Planning Accreditation Board. Dr. Page was the co-editor of a special issue on "Planning for Water" that was published in a 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Planning Association.
