Architecture students had a chance to connect with firms, alumni and the future of architecture through UB's Road Trip NYC career development program. The two-day event (Jan 11-12) included tours of CannonDesign, Gensler, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) and REX Architecture. In addition to learning about the latest projects at each firm, students met with alums working there and toured the facilities for a sense of the work environment.
Students also visited the World Trade Center Transportation Hub and its Santiago Calatrava-designed Oculus with project design manager and alumnus Mike Garz (BA'72). Garz is senior vice president of architecture, engineering and construction management firm STV.
"Coffee chats," skill-building workshops and a university-wide student-alumni networking event rounded out the career-building road trip, now in its second year.
