In October, Georine Pierre and James Kubiniec, both seniors in architecture, represented UB at the National Organization of Minority Architects conference in Philadelphia. Kubiniec and Pierre, president and vice president, respectively, of UB’s chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (ubNOMAS), networked with students, faculty and practicing architects from across the U.S.

This national event, which hosted lectures, offered workshops and included an exhibition of entries from the annual NOMA student design competition, attracted students and faculty as well as practicing architects from across the country.

Pierre and Kubiniec met with Andrew Thompson, President of NYCOBA (the New York City Organization of Black Architects) and representatives of the Northeast regional chapter of NOMAS while networking with students and professionals. According to Kubiniec, UB's participation in the conference brought national attention to UB's emerging NOMAS chapter, formed by architecture students two years ago.

It was also announced at the conference that UB has been invited to participate in the student design competition for the 2015 NOMA Conference in New Orleans.
